You May Also Like These...
- Portability - The ergonomically designed carrying position combined with its light weight (47 lbs.) make the Kapex easy to move around the job site. When being transported, the Kapex's head is locked down making it compact and preventing movement
- Light Weight, Compact Footprint - The magnesium alloy base of the Kapex was designed to be extremely rigid and durable yet very lightweight when compared to other 10" miter saws
- Deck Height - The deck height matches the height of your sustainer 1 storage containers. On the jobsite, you can use one or more sustainers to support the material being cut
- Counter Spring Balanced - The bevel adjustment is counter spring balanced meaning that you can position the bevel at any angle and the head will stay in position even when it is not locked in place. This makes angle adjustment much less tedious and more accurate. Bevel gauges are on both sides of the saw for quick, easy reference
- Dust Hood - The Kapex features a dust hood which is responsible for directing the ejection of saw dust from the blade into the dust collection port
- Blade Kerf and Guard Design - The Kapex blade creates a thin kerf which reduces load on the motor and improves the cut quality. The blades are specially designed to reduce noise levels and dampen vibration. The large 30mm arbor hole reduces blade deflection
- Special Cutting Position - The Kapex incorporates a special cutting position that, when employed, provides a greater that usual cutting capacity by utilizing the back portion of the blade more effectively. The Kapex is locked into the special cutting position with the flip of a lever
- Rail Forward Design- The Kapex features a rail forward design which increases precision and creates a compact footprint. The rails are robust at 30mm in diameter and are wide apart. This prevents head play to ensure smooth, accurate cuts every time
- FastFix Blade Changes - The Kapex features Festool's patented FastFix blade change system. Turning the fast fix knob locks the arbor, mechanically locks out the trigger and allows the blade to be changed with a single hand
- Dual Lasers - Easily align cuts from the left or the right side using the dual lasers. The lasers clearly define the material which will be removed during the cut. Using the three axis adjustment controls, you have complete control to fine-tune the lasers
- Bevel Lock Knob - Use the bevel lock knob conveniently located on top of the Kapex to control the bevel positive detents and to lock the bevel angle. The counter spring balanced head on the Kapex allows you to position the bevel and let go of the saw with the head moving. Use the fine adjustment knob to control bevel angles in fractions of a degree
- Ergonomic Handle Position - A center-positioned handle allows you to make cuts with either hand making it easier to view the cut. Combine the Kapex with the MFT/3-Kapex table to place the saw at the optimal work height for greater comfort. The 2-stage trigger helps prevent accidental triggering
- Dust Extraction Port - The Kapex features a swiveling dust extraction port which accepts a 27mm or 26mm hose. When combined with the CT 22 or CT 33 dust extractor, the Kapex is capable of collecting up to 91% of the saw dust
- Direct Drive Motor - The 1,600 Watt motor utilizes direct drive for a more efficient transfer of energy to the blade. The result is a cleaner, more accurate cut than a conventional miter saw
- MMC electronics - With variable speed pre-selection, smooth start up, safety brake and overload protection the MMC electronics minimize working stress and adapt machine performance to the working material
- Trenching Capability - With the simple flip of a conveniently placed knob, you can cut trenches to create lap joints or go around pipes and other obstacles. Flip the knob back up and you're back to normal miter saw position in seconds
- Bevel Fine-Adjustment Knob - Use the fine-adjustment knob to control the bevel of the cut to fractions of a degree with extreme precision. The knob rotates and engages a rack and pinion to move the head
- Cord & Tool Storage - Includes an onboard tool storage for the power cord and arbor tool. A far superior and safer solution to simply wrapping the cord around the saw during transport. The arbor tool is always handy for quick blade changes using the FastFix system
- Keyed Material Clamp - Includes a clamp which is keyed to make insertion and removal quick and easy. The clamp will not slide freely when the lock is disengaged keeping it out of the way while you are positioning your material. A single lever-actuated cam-lock secures the clamp in place and a rubber pad protect your work piece

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
Make no doubt, this is a very good compound miter saw, if not the best. There is only one real issue: Price. Is it worth [$], which is 1.5 to 3 times more expensive than other saws, and it accessories are also expensive. Can I get the same high capabilities in a saw less expensive: YES.But for those who buy Festool, craftsmanship is more important than "value". And Festool does provide some of the best machines.Because the cost is so high, the importance of "value" was more heavily weighted in my rating. I can only give it average rating due to value, but 5 stars in terms of the product capabilities.

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
I have used about 10 different types &/or styles of miter saws in my career and have never seen anything that parallels the KAPEX in refined precision. Wide set guide rails, easy to read scale with micro adjustability, and extremely lightweight (I don't know if the other review who cited his 10" 27lb Makita was referring to miter saw or a SLCM, but this thing ALMOST feels too light). The laser indicator is not like your garden variety that is close to the cut line; it IS the cut line. Set and forget, it will not let you down, and you no longer have to do a bunch of small starter cuts to make sure you are tracking to your marks correctly. And dust collection? Forget about it. It doesn't catch everything but it captures far and away more dust than it's nearest competitor (and I cut a lot of ultralite trim which creates more fines than anything else I can think of).
Bottom line, if you can get past the sticker shock you will not regret it.

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
WE have our hands in all kinds of woodoworking. We use this saw for furniture, cabinets exterior and interior trim and any other woodworking apps we se fit. This saw challenges some of the 12" saws on the market. The most accurate saw I have ever used. This my 5th mitre saw. I have owned 2 makitas, dewalt, hitachi. The options such as fine bevel adjustment, angle finder and etc. are state of the art. I don't prefer lasers, but these lasers are the finest. The calibration on the mitre gauge are similar to any other saw. The bevel adjustments for calibration are a bit cumbersome. There are just 2 bolts that loosen and tighten. This is not a problem for people that adjust with a square. For us, it can be a pain in the neck that there is not fine adjustment. Our saws are calibrated to within 3 thousandths. Other than that I can't say enough about this saw. It is by far the most accurate and user friendly saw I have ever seen and touched. Do yourself a favor and wax all surfaces with renaissance was or similar. It will help prevent pvc trim and pith from building up on the surfaces and also make moving material over the bed a breeze. I can go on and on about this saw. Do yourself, your customers and your wood a favor and buy one.
This saw will not make you a better carpenter. But for those who already are good this will make your life easier.

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
Having used this saw for 2 years now, I'm quite satisfied with it. The miterfast (angle measurer) has come in handy in many renovations when walls are not quite square. The lasers are wonderful and totally adjustable. The cutting capacity is almost 13" for 3/4" stock in such a small package. Haven't tried the saw with the 36mm hose due to the price, but the stock vac hose collects well enough.
My only complaints are when cutting some bevels, the blade housing hits the stops and they must be removed to accommodate the cut.
The optional worktable is a bit undersized for me as I like to lay out tools, pencils, etc. in front of the saw while working.

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
I had a chance to try out this saw recently, which as great since I'd been considering one for my own work. After seeing it in person I changed my mind not because it performs poorly, quite the contrary; it's too heavy. To most contractors this probably seems odd since most mitre saws are typically over 50 pounds. However, I have a small Makita 10" that weighs in at a feathery 27 pounds and is a breeze to move when needed (which happens to be a lot in my case).
For a shop I'd much prefer the Festool; for work that requires the saw be moved, well, I don't think so. I prefer my little Makita. I believe Festool has engineered a smaller version of the Kapex for European markets. If that saw comes to North America I will certainly be back to give it a lift!
Small is beautiful...

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
If God wanted a sliding saw he would pick this. I have used every saw out there and nothing comes close to this. Dont worry about making a mistake cutting a board to short. Add some glue, clamp it together, wait for it to dry, Sand it out and play tricks on your friends to ask them to find the seam! They never will. Also the dust control is Awesome. Cant ask for anything better!

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
I have to comment on Haroldgold's statement that he could not cut 7 3/4" crown mold with this saw. He needs to learn how to use his miter saw. You cut crown mold laying flat on the table and set your miter and bevel cuts as to the degree of crown mold angle used. Crown comes either a 45 degree or 38 degree angle to the wall.

Comments about Festool Kapex KS 120 Sliding Compound Miter Saw:
Well let's start with my cons for that saw. It'll probably sound strange but for me the blade is the biggest concern.I tried the 60t and the 80t(which cost 128$)and both are splitting the wood in the back of the cut.An old freud blade gives me better cut(splinterwise)then the festool one.I know that I can prevent that by putting auxiliary fence but I don't want to do that everytime I'm cutting piece of wood that doesn't need to be perfect. The other side of the coin is that it's hard to find other, then the festool blades, that fits Kapex.
Now the good stuff....
The laser is very good feature and my favorite is the the fine adjustable bevel
It definitely has a lot of potential, but don't expect from it to be a space ship:) it is a miter saw
