Festool Warranty
Festool offers a 3-year warranty, one of the longest in the industry. This warranty is valid on the pre-condition that the tool is used and operated in compliance with the Festool operating instructions. Festool warrants that the specified tool will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a term of 3 years from the date of purchase.
Conditions of 1 + 2 warranty
You are entitled to a free extended warranty (1 year + 2 years = 3 years) for your Festool power tool. Festool is responsible for all shipping costs during the first year of the warranty. During the second and third year of the warranty the customer is responsible for shipping the tool to Festool. Festool will pay for return shipping to the customer using UPS Ground Service. All warranty service is valid 3 years from the date of original purchase on your receipt or invoice.
Festool makes no other warranty, express or implied, for Festool portable power tools. No agent, representative, distributor, dealer, or employee of Festool has the authority to increase or otherwise change the obligations or limitations of this warranty. The obligations of Festool in its sole discretion under this warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of any Festool portable power tool that is found to be defective as packaged with the User Manual.
Excluded from the coverage under this warranty are: normal wear and tear; damages caused by misuse, abuse, or neglect; damage caused by anything other than defects in material and workmanship. This warranty does not apply to accessory items such as circular saw blades, drill bits, router bits, jigsaw blades, sanding belts, and grinding wheels. Also excluded are "wearing parts," such as carbon brushes, lamellas of air tools, rubber collars and seals, sanding discs and pads, and batteries.
Festool portable power tools requiring replacement or repair are to be returned to Festool. Call (800) 554-8741 for address details. In no event shall Festool be liable for any consequential or incidental damages for breach of this or any other warranty, express or implied whatsoever. All warranties implied by state law, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are hereby limited to the duration of three years.
Some states in the U.S. do not allow the limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. With the exception of any warranties implied by state or province law as hereby limited, the foregoing express limited warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, guarantees, agreements, and similar obligations of Festool.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state in the U.S.

I'm finishing kitchen cabinets my husband is making. It's so easy to change sanding disks since I'm 69 and not strong. The suction is so powerful I even sand in my spare bedroom. Never have to vacuum the room. There's nothing "not so great about it". It's fantastic.

I have a small shop, so I want to control dust and noise: the CT 26 is unbeatable in both departments. Since it is pricey, I considered another top-quality vac (the orange one). But that unit's slightly lower price didn't seem worth it when comparing the quality of hoses, the ability to easily adapt shop-vac attachments to the CT 26, and the CT 26's overall design. The designers at Festool are pretty sharp!

Owning Festool without the dust extractor is questionable. 'Dust extraction' really is the heart of the system. The 26 is a good size on site under a chop saw, or any of the other tools. It's big and heavy when getting full, so is cumbersome if working on a stair or in a tight space. It's tough, because the smaller unit looses capacity, so the hot set-up is both units if there is room to store, and budget allows.
Pros:
The biggest advantage I see working on site is the [near] end-of-dust and sawdust. The $5 a piece bags are cheap when compared to time lost with clean up, not to mention the benefit to the client.
Very well made parts, switches, etc. The cord is the heaviest cord I own. They're not cutting corners here. Wheels roll well and brakes hold.
Annoyances:
The cord is the one obvious design oversight I can mention. The plug is for European receps; the included corded plug adapter complicates use; and God forbid you ever loosing the thing. The argument to have it in case you're working in Europe falls flat, so I am guessing it has to do with importing into the US....
I have had some trouble with the bags breaking, which is tough to straighten out without another vac on hand.
Again, want it or not, I see this as the starting point of working with Festool.

Do not omit this portion of Festool's "system"; it works that well. Don't take me for gospel but every tool they make that has a blade on it also has integrated dust collection. This vacuum certainly fits the bill for taking care of nearly 100% of all the dust you can create whether it be chips from a hand planer or fines from finish sanding.
It really is more appropriate to call this thing a dust extractor. The suction on this thing is nothing short of intense. I've sanded drywall texture with 80 grit over dark wood floor and left no dust,...really. Beyond that, I am always impressed with the features/details that they include - the braking system, length of power cord, rubber coated wheels, integrated hose garage - these are all notable parts of the new design.
In reference to a review that cited the 'cost of bags', I will make one suggestion: Make the investment of a 'longlife filter bag'. They are not cheap (neither is this system), however once you have a bag that that you can conveniently empty you will use thing exclusively and not just for particlulates.

I'm using this with a TS55 & OF2200. Dust collection is near perfect with these devices. I also use it with a Leigh D4R dovetail jig and VRS. Same deal - great dust collection.
I'm impressed by the effectiveness despite the small hose. I'm glad I didn't spring for the bigger hose - surprisingly, I don't need it. Also, the volume is pretty good - not too loud.
It's not a great shop-vac though. The high cost of bags is prohibitive and the small hose prevents it being useful for bigger chips.

This is the best vacuum on the market I have used. Very powerful, easy to use and works great with all festools and is great with any collection. When used with the kapex and larger dia hose only 10% of saw dust is left behind. Remarkable!

I like the unit from the minute i saw the box; even the cardboard box was engineered. Everything they said it would be, quite, strong and built like a Festool.
Only complaint other than the cost is the hose is difficult to fit on non-Festool devices, but I am working on finding adaptors
